Our Voices

of Shaun Ruth
Good day to you all
As I write this I am reminded that this year has only 6 more production weeks. The fact that this year has gone so quickly is in itself frightening, but the fact that we have only 6 weeks left in which to produce a huge amount of business is both concerning but exciting. But let’s take a step back.
October 2015 was certainly not our best month of this year, and we trailed the rest of the country quite dramatically. Whilst many of us did not reach our individual targets, a number of us did, in some case quite handsomely as can be seen below.

Rumour has it that certain of our more mature advisors are scaling down or going into semi-retirement. You’re kidding right? Those individuals continue to produce copious volumes of business month-in and month-out, still managing to stay in the top 10 on a monthly and cumulative basis, and to them I say well done, and thank you.
What is pleasing to note is the youngsters who are starting to make their presence felt. Anneke and Martin are beginning to show what they’re made of (yes Anneke, you’re a youngster ), and are starting to battle with the bigger guns. I look forward to your continued commitment to your clients and to Team SEC. I also look forward to seeing a few more youngsters making their presence felt on the leader board, as we have a few up and coming stars beginning to find their rhythm, which is awesome to see.
Speaking of youngsters, although the leader board is still dominated by Marc and Braam, a number of our genuine newbies are starting to make themselves heard. A warm word of welcome to Euson who has only been with us for 4 months, and is on 171% of cumulative NUB Score target, and 252% of Risk target. Keep it up Euson, I look forward to seeing you in the Falcon Club very soon.

Risk Business
As you all know, risk business is what makes this industry tick. Yes I know a number of you specialise in investment business, which is great, but this business is to a large extent built on risk business.
As can be seen from the table below, a number of the stalwarts
continue to do exactly that, and we salute them too.

The stalwarts are still there, but once again we have a number of newcomers to the party. A hearty welcome to them! As you all know we have a Risk Competition running for the last 3 months of this year, based on risk business written as a percentage of target. Our winners for October are:
-
1st Prize: Anneke de Klerk with a whopping 562% of risk target
-
2nd Prize: Maritz van Heerden achieved 310% of his risk target
-
FGL Prize: Antonia Sawula
Do Maritz and Anneke know something we don’t, or is living in JBay and Humansdorp just a bonus? With 2 months still to go there are R3,000 worth of vouchers still up for grabs, as well as R10,000 worth of prizes shown under gallery for the 10 grand winners. If you’re not yet on the leader board, now would be a good time to start looking for that Risk business.
Now to our investment fundis……thank you all for an awesome growth in our investment book over the first 10 months of this year. The leaders in the Sanlam Single premium division are Talita for the
month of October, and Werner cumulative to date. Well done to
you both. With his production at 84% above his closest competitor,
it looks like Werner may walk away with the laurels in this division
by the end of the year.
In the Collective Investment scene, Sipho took the honours for October, whilst Martin Marx leads the cumulative pack by over 230%. Well done !

The Glacier books have shown huge growth this year, with our top 10 advisors bringing in a staggering R365m in the first 10 months of this year. Jurie leads the standings in both October and cumulatively,
with Anton a close second. Of the R365m done by the top 10 advisors,
R214m was written by Imperium Bluestar, and to them I say well done,
and a huge thank you. To any junior advisor wishing to work in the
investment market, I recommend you start rubbing shoulders with
any of the advisors on this leader board. Learn from them, imitate
them, and ask for their assistance.

You will recall in your initial training (yes I know some of you may already have forgotten) that success in this industry is dependent on your activities. From the table below can be seen that most of the top
advisors on the NUB Score leader board are also generally the ones on
this table indicating number of products. Werner, my most hearty
congratulations and thanks go to you for a staggering 455 new policies
to date. That is HUGE and certainly something to which our youngsters
can look up to and aspire. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why
everyone in Team SEC cannot issue at least 2 policies per week, and
therefore 8 policies per month (10 this month).

Colleagues, we have but 6 weeks left of 2015, and we have a huge amount of business to close and issue. I would urge you all to set yourself personal targets, and chase those targets with the assistance of your Focus Group leader. Only you can determine your success. Your FGL will do everything in his or her power to assist you, but only you can prospect for new names, only you can make the calls to prospective clients, only you can see the clients and only you can write the business. For the newcomers, Bandile and Hugo are obviously available to assist you with client visits. Both Chris Grimbeek and myself are available to assist the vested advisors with difficult/bigger clients, particularly Estate Audits etc. There is no limit to the volume of business which is and can be written from Estate Audits, and I urge you to use the opportunities which abound in your client bases.
I wish you all the best for the last few weeks of 2015. I look forward to more and more of you achieving your monthly and cumulative targets. I particularly look forward to Team SEC again rising out of the ashes like a phoenix because we are, after all, Wealthsmiths.
